This vacation house sits in a coastal meadow with separate guest quarters and a private wind-protected courtyard. With an eye on the indigenous buildings of the region, the house is covered with 1X12 board siding and corrugated sheet metal roofing, left to weather naturally. The interior is completely open, uses materials and colors boldly, and exposes expanses of both wood stud and heavy timber framing.

This residence is a complete make-over of an existing house on an ocean front lot. The house snuggles amongst the trees and uses ventilation chimneys to bleed off summer heat buildup from its extensive westerly glazing. The entry is marked by a log and timber trellis capable of supporting the most robust of vines.
