This home is situated in South Kona, on the "Big Island" of Hawaii, approximately 45 minutes south of Kailua-Kona on the way to Volcanoes National Park, which is approximately a 1.5 hours drive. The days are warm with temperatures ranging 70-80 f. The evenings and nights cool to 60-65 f for comfortable sleeping and outdoor dining. The home is on three +, private, beautifully landscaped acres featuring many fruit trees and flowers. In season, one may harvest and enjoy fresh papaya, mango, guava, cherry, banana, coconut, lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange, fig, macadamia nuts, pineapple, chimura, and. maybe some other, so far, unidentified stuff. For the "serious" gardener, "Gentleman Farmer," or a small commercial operation in coffee, macnuts, bananas, or other produce, there is plenty of additional space for more plantings. The climate and altitude are ideal for the famous Kona Coffee. Just stroll out into the gardens and pick whatever is ripe for your table. (coconuts and macadamia nuts require a little processing, however it is a worthwhile effort.) Enjoy the quiet privacy afforded by the location, the cooling breezes at 1500 foot elevation, and an ocean view. |
